Hi there and welcome. It’s Kerstin Jatho here from 4 Seeds consulting, a transformational coach who shifts people from languishing to flourishing. In this video, I want to talk to you about, do you manage your energy, or do you manage your time? Two totally different concepts, but I don’t know how often you allow your energy to actually impact and influence your level of performance and productivity.
Do you look at your task list in the morning or the meetings that you all have scheduled and does that dictate your day, regardless of what your energy level is like? Or do you sometimes tap in and actually establish what your energy is like? And is this the energy I need right now to complete a task or have in a meeting?
I’m sure you’ve all experienced the mismatch when the energy does not match your calendar or your time. You are very tired, very exhausted and that, I don’t know, 30 minutes or an hour just goes by very slowly. So yes, in an idealistic world, can we only do things when we want to or feel up to it? I guess not, but you can make it more of a choice more often and also think about what are the three things that fuel your energy, what actually makes up energy?
And the first one will be your physical body. How is the energy in your physical body? Are you tired? Are you well-rested? Are you energised? Have you eaten well, or are you feeling quite full?
The second one is what’s your emotional energy like right now? Do you feel quite stressed, anxious, or calm and at peace? That is a big component of how you are going to complete a task.
And the third one is what’s your mindset like? What is the attitude you have towards the task yourself? What are the beliefs you have around it? And the assumptions? Without you realising it, these three items interplay continuously with each other and actually determine your level of energy.
So, take a moment as you are listening to this right now and think, or feel from a score of 1 to 10, what is my energy right now? And does it match the task I need to complete? And if not, can I adjust my energy or can I move the task to when I feel like it. Because if your energy is right, that task goes so much quicker from your hand and you save time, it’s just effortless. And that’s what we want you to do. Instead of looking at your calendar and having that determine your day and your life. So, if you want to save time, start tapping into your energy and become aware of what fuels it, what drives it, what drains it and how you can replace it, really becoming very aware of what do you need to have a high-energy. Energy equals peak performance.
Over to you for sharing your comments and experiences.
What changes can you make to ensure that you are productive with your energy so that the time spent doesn’t need to be managed?
