Happiness at Work

A comprehensive change management programme designed to increase employee well-being and company effectiveness sustainably.

Why Your Business Needs Happiness at Work

When you first look at it, putting the words happiness and work in the same sentence seems to be a contradiction in terms. But if you think about it, there is a natural symbiosis, an inherent sense of belonging to and influence on one another. Work is the place where you spend two-thirds of your day, so being happy there makes logical sense.

When we raise people’s happiness levels, we have a direct positive influence on individual, team and company potential. As the use of technology advances, there is an ever-increasing gap between the psychological fitness of our people to meet these demands. Happiness at Work is an ideal win-win solution for creating a supportive, sustainable, and satisfied workforce.

The Happiness at Work Programme brings human capital to centre focus in companies.

It improves bottom line growth and enhanced competitive advantage in any industry by actively driving the concept of productive, committed and, happy employees.

Despite what you might believe, happiness in the workplace is not a “nice to have”, but rather a fundamental “must have” that can be measured, managed and monitored at regular intervals.

The proven results of previous Happiness at Work interventions include:

The Cost of Unhappiness at Work

If you’re finding the Happiness at Work approach too optimistic and unrealistic, then let’s reverse it and ask what the cost is of having unhappy people in the workplace.

The visible tell-tell signs that people are unhappy in their workplace are:

  • High absenteeism rates
  • Poor time spent on tasks
  • Toxic atmosphere
  • Low innovation
  • Lack of confidence and morale
  • Unmotivated to meet deadlines
  • Unwillingness to assist others
  • Low employee retention strategy

One may not be able to put an exact quantifiable monetary value on all the above factors. However:

An unhappy middle-management employee costs a company on average between R30 000 and R55 000 per year!

We find that a shockingly high price to pay, especially if we consider that if there is one unhappy employee there are likely to be more. Happiness in the workplace translates into increased productivity, customer satisfaction, team performance, staff happiness and overall company success, and in this economy who doesn’t need more stability and commitment from their staff?

Why 4Seeds is Your Ideal Organisational Change Partner

4Seeds understands the complexity of people and business. Our Happiness at Work Programme offers a bespoke personal service with a professional and caring team of coaches.

We give leaders a simple, practical, and scientifically tested tool, and the ability to focus on what works, while at the same time improving what doesn’t. We ensure buy-in and roll-out at all levels, and can apply our work to any size of division or team.

We help individuals, teams and companies to improve their happiness and their performance in the workplace. We are serious about people, and apply proven approaches that assess, analyse and shift behaviour. The best part is that we will demonstrate a return on investment during and after the intervention.

We look to build lasting change in people to ensure that they are the company’s most rewarding asset. We offer a unique way of quantifying performance by using the company’s own internal data. From experience, we know that it’s not easy to actively drive change and equally be impacted by it. That’s the powerful role we will play. We assist and support to re-shift the focus towards the new desired change, and steer leadership and the team away from fighting the old.

Although 4Seeds is well versed in many of the Organisational Development and Change models, we are advocates of the philosophy of strengths-based change. This means that we explore what the organisation’s strengths are, and what it naturally does well, and we expand on that.
But these are just a few components of our approach – other elements where we guide and support leaders in implementing organisational change are:

Our Six Change Management Steps for Happiness at Work

Step 1: Individual Assessment

The IPPQ online, individual assessment which will take 20 minutes to complete. Each individual receives a confidential and personalised report with the individual’s scores.

Step 2: Team Assessment

Individual IPPQ assessments are collated into a team report. This team report can be used to compare divisions against each other, which is invaluable for leaders looking to drive organisational change and leadership development.

Step 3: Identify Priority Needs

Based on the assessment results and a group discussion and feedback session, the priority needs of the team/organisation are identified.

Step 4: Team Interventions

Once the needs are identified the intervention begins with six monthly live intervention workshops. Implementation guidelines received in each session provide tools for application in the work setting between sessions.

Step 5: Leadership Support

Throughout the process, incremental management meetings are held to ensure a top-down approach. We value sustainability, and because of this we ensure that we stay in contact with our clients to support sustainable change.

Step 6: Assessment and Check-In

After the six-month intervention period a second assessment phase takes place where changes are monitored and areas of further intervention are recorded.
