It’s a well-known fact that we are social creatures who require social connection and interaction. Unfortunately, we’re seldom good at it as much as we need it, and in the workplace our communication and interpersonal skills are inadequate. We don’t always get along with our colleagues, like them, or want to work with them, and this can result in a strained working environment and relationships. Communication is the most common denominator that causes team dysfunction and conflict in the workplace. A toxic work culture leaves us emotionally, physically, and mentally drained and exhausted.

In these workshops, you’ll learn:

  • How to positively show up at work and build strong interpersonal trusting relationships
  • How to effectively communicate with your team, using different communication channels, and tailoring your communication style to the person’s personality style
  • How to provide constructive feedback that comes with the intent of growing the person and minimise the chance for it being taken personally
  • How to effectively recognise, acknowledge, and validate the team collectively and individually

Emotional intelligence and empathy are the hybrid workplace’s third most sought-after leadership skills. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, they are the primary skills that separate an inspiring leader from others. However, most of us aren’t comfortable showing and expressing our emotions at work, believing that there’s no place for vulnerability and emotions in the workplace. This thought is misleading because humans use emotions to be successful, productive, and to attain goals.

Resilience has become the new buzzword in the workplace, and is an important learned behaviour in managing daily stress and buffering against anxiety, depression, and burnout. Enhancing our resilience levels is not a nice-to-have, but rather a must-have that helps us cope better with this busy, dynamic, hybrid working environment.

In these workshops, you’ll learn:

  • How emotions arise and why they are important for us to understand
  • How to understand and manage our emotions as well as others’
  • How to demonstrate empathy towards ourselves as well as others while holding them accountable for work tasks
  • What resilience is, its benefits, and techniques on how to develop your resilience

This workshop covers the pertinent topics: engagement, motivation, meaning, and goal achievement. These topics are all closely interlinked, so we must work on them collectively to flourish.

Most companies aspire to have engaged and motivated employees. Sadly, very few employees are. Statistics show that a mere 35% of people are engaged in their tasks, with the balance classified as “sleepwalking” through them. Most people work to earn a living and don’t love their work or workplace. This spills over into low engagement and motivation. The result is a lack of enthusiasm, job satisfaction, fulfilment, going the extra mile, volunteering, and working to the best of our ability.

Setting goals and actioning them isn’t always the easiest thing to do. We often know what we want to achieve, but less about how to get it done. We may start a project with energy and optimism, and then run out of motivation along the way. This leads to personal and professional goals becoming unfulfilled dreams. It doesn’t have to be that way!

We all want to know that the work we do impacts another person’s life. It’s important to know that our tasks have a bigger purpose, and aren’t a mundane activity that we have to do. Meaning focuses on what matters to us, what we value, and where we find purpose. Our work meaning influences our performance, connections, client satisfaction, productivity, task endurance, adaptability to situations, and job satisfaction. If we lose meaning in our work, we develop a negative attitude and behaviour, which impacts everyone around us.

In these workshops, you’ll learn:

  • What motivates people and how to get them to fully engage in their work
  • What meaning people derive from their work, and how meaning can be built into daily routine tasks
  • How to set goals that are realistic, attainable, and align with your values

Mental health and well-being has become the primary focal point in companies. However, many leaders don’t see it as their responsibility, aren’t adequately equipped, or don’t feel confident to have conversations with their team to support them with their mental well-being. Also, the hybrid workplace has brought in a new dimension of digital and mental well-being, as people must become self-disciplined to manage their workload, screen time, physical movement, work-life balance, and mental health. These things didn’t used to be at the forefront of our minds in the traditional working environment.

Mental health concerns are on the rise, and everyone needs to become aware and educated about the topic to support themselves and others.

In these workshops, you’ll learn:

  • What mental health is and the five factors that contribute to it
  • How to have supportive mental health conversations with your team
  • About mental health and how to best manage yourself and support others in need
  • Practical exercises of desk yoga, breathing, and quick mindfulness techniques that can be used quickly and effortlessly

Strengths are behaviours that come quickly to us, are effortless to apply, and energise us. This means they naturally raise our level of performance and well-being. Strengths give us the power to operate from our best possible selves, and make us resilient and authentic. However, we often take our strengths for granted and don’t leverage them or work hard on minimising our weaknesses. In these workshops, we shift the focus from what is wrong to what is strong, become aware of our unique strengths, and learn to spot them in others.

Psychological safety is the feeling of being safe in the workplace, participating without judgement, owning up for mistakes, freely sharing ideas, and collectively coming up with solutions. Psychological safety is about being human in the workplace, learning from mistakes made, and being accountable and honest with yourself and others. The foundation of psychological safety is trust and accepting everyone’s diverse knowledge and ideas.

In these workshops, you’ll learn:

  • What strengths are and how to identify your top five strengths
  • How to leverage your strengths
  • How to spot strengths in others and stimulate their use of them in their work activities
  • How to implement and maintain psychological safety as a culture within teams
